Description du poste
A steel shuttering and steel fixing construction job is a critical, hands-on role in civil engineering and commercial construction. This position focuses on preparing the robust, temporary molds (shuttering) and internal reinforcement bars (rebars) that give concrete its shape, strength, and structural integrity.
Here is a breakdown of what this job entails, the required skills, and current market opportunities:
Core Responsibilities
Formwork Assembly (Steel Shuttering): Erecting, aligning, and securing modular steel or aluminum panels to create molds for concrete walls, columns, beams, and foundations.
Reinforcement Installation (Steel Fixing): Reading structural blueprints to cut, bend, position, and tie steel rebars or mesh together using tying wire or clips before concrete is poured.
Striking & Maintenance: Safely dismantling (striking) the steel shutters once the concrete has cured, followed by cleaning and oiling the panels for reuse on the next section.
Safety & Quality Control: Installing propping, scaffolding, and bracing to ensure formwork can withstand the immense pressure of wet concrete without bowing or collapsing.
